I think I pretty much only have Grand Battle characters, but they could use some fleshing out probably, I haven’t thought about their back-story as much as I should I think. There’s also my Picture Wars stuff, but I think I only had a couple proper characters for that. Whatever, if you can think of a character of mine and want me to blather on about them send an ask.

A couple of days ago I wanted to draw something and so I did. This is an as-of-yet unnamed hypothetical character, he’s a robot or mechanical life-form devoted to some overly complicated machine religion. He’s meant as a physical embodiment sort of missionary figure for interaction with other cultures and spreading his machine religion, so he has an actual body for engaging and converting and such. I don’t know, I still need to figure some stuff out about him. It’s not really that good of a drawing and it went through my mediocre cell-phone camera instead of a scanner but I dunno maybe it’s cool.
Right so I think most (if not all) of the people I know and talk to regularly know about this but I started a Grand Battle. According to others it’s going to be good and if you have any interest in collaborative writing it’s worth looking at, maybe?
For whatever reason I’m having trouble writing a profile for another Grand Battle thing so instead of staring at a blank document for a couple of hours I’m going to try to hash out a summary here instead. I’m not exactly sure if this is the best course of action but it’s at least preferable to not writing anything at all. Also, it’s using this blog for actually providing content.
The basic idea of the character is that it’s a shape-shifting biological terror weapon. Its natural form is akin to a cloud of winged crustacean-like things, which are generally fairly small. To alter its form, the individuals that compose the swarm merge together, forming larger components which in turn merge together to make a new organism. Its creators seeded assorted planets with it— or swarms of it, rather— to discourage other species from founding colonies on worlds they coveted but could not yet expand to. Assuming colonists landed, the swarm could be triggered and attack them, turning into a vicious predator or mimicking the settlers or just gnawing through them as a cloud of angry flying crustaceans. The swarms have a rudimentary consciousness distributed across the cloud— not so much a hive mind as an individual split up into a bunch of tinier parts. They know some language, but aren’t particularly bright past genetically-programmed triggers.
For this particular swarm, there were a couple of flukes. The first fluke being that its shape-shifting isn’t properly working— the components that make it up begin to dissociate back into tinier bits, leaving it incapable of permanently holding a form. The other fluke is that it didn’t have the necessary genetic triggers spliced in— or that they weren’t activated, or whatever— in essence giving the cloud some form of free will but also limiting its ability to flip out and turn into whatever forms were pre-programmed into it.
Assuming I get into the battle I’m entering this monstrosity in, I think the main thing I’d be exploring is its awakening of its abilities and programmed memories, which could be tucked away and subject to activation later on or something. My main idea is that it’s overwhelmingly naive and confused, and while it has the potential to kill things it doesn’t and mostly just wanders about trying to understand itself and turn into acid-spewing eels or something.
Man I write weird characters.

Oh so I mostly do pixel art and this was a thing I needed to work on. These are portraits of some individuals of an alien race of floating cybernetic cephalopod-things, they’re big on scientific knowledge and discovery and also stapling gravity manipulation devices to everything.

Oh hey sometimes I draw things too I guess, I think all of the #grandbattle people have already seen this but I might use this for something other than lurking so here have a drawing.
This is one of my characters, she’s a cybernetic avian alien engineer thing. Her consciousness is stored on computational substrate rather than a biological brain and one of her arms doubles as a matter re-constructor thing. There’s probably other back-story things but that’s not relevant unless someone asks I think.
except I lied and I’m doing this too

Okay sure why not.
So I haven’t really use Tumblr because I don’t make art frequently enough and I’m not nearly a frequent enough writer, but I sort of wanted to post something? So I grabbed a couple of characters off of my big character idea sheet and just slid them over here. All of these are for Grand Battles, so there’s some character choices I made that I might not normally make that I did, I don’t know if that comes off. Also because I’m sort of sloppy they’re only as confusing notes rather than something nice like a coherent paragraph. Anyway here’s some half-developed character ideas:
Anyway yeah some things. I’ll go back to putting off doing school-work now I guess.
